True The Time

Our Philosophy

Decades of collecting experience led to the decision to create a platform where, through our dynamically expanding and constantly evolving vintage watch collection, we can present a distinctive philosophy —one in which a timepiece is far more than a mere object, a simple instrument for measuring time, or even an investment.

In our understanding, a mechanical watch is one thing above all else: a creation.

A complex masterpiece where design, engineering, technological innovation, aesthetics, and artisanal precision converge into an extraordinary synthesis—the art of watchmaking at its finest. It is an object that doesn’t just serve a purpose, but tells stories, stirs emotions, and encourages contemplation. In observing and wearing it, we are not merely witnesses to this synthesis – we experience and enjoy it.

This perspective applies to modern timepieces as well, yet it is exponentially truer of vintage watches created decades ago, sometimes nearly a century in the past. These mechanical watches possess a special quality simply by existing: they are witnesses to bygone eras, cultural artifacts shaped by mechanical timekeeping history. Each has survived in a different condition—no two are exactly alike. Every piece is unique, an individual with its own unrepeatable story.

There are few everyday objects that so naturally embody the fundamental philosophical principles accompanying human existence as the watch does. The concept of time has been central to human thought since creation itself—an idea that preoccupied ancient philosophers and continues to hold essential significance in the arts, particularly in music and literature.

The watch’s almost sacred nature is therefore no coincidence. Yet this dimension has gradually faded into the background as a result of mass production, and today only a few perceive horology in this light. Perhaps no other everyday object—apart from wine—carries a comparable spiritual charge. Wine, as a symbol of transformation, is likewise one of the purest expressions of the work of time and the imprint of human presence.

How much richer our relationship with a watch or watch collection could be if we did not regard antique watches merely as status symbols, practical tools on the wrist, or valuable objects locked away in a safe, but as meaningful reminders: of the passage of time, of living the moment, and of our responsibility as the temporary custodians of watches as heritages. And how much richer wine would be as well, if we did not consume it merely for pleasure, but as part of a special ritual: as the new owner—or rather, the careful guardian—of such a vintage timepiece, accompanied by fitting music and perhaps a literary work attuned to the mood of the moment, raising our glass.

Cheers!
